The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games, the People’s Republic of China (simply named “the Games” in the following) would have the track cycling event and road cycling event held in Longgang District of Shenzhen, from July 01 to July 08.
It is introduced that National Games for Persons with Disabilities originated in 1984. It belongs to a national comprehensive game especially for persons with disabilities, which happens regularly every four years.
The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games would mainly take place in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao of China, with the opening ceremony to be held in Guangzhou on December 08 and the closing ceremony to be held in Shenzhen on December 15.
It would be the first time for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to hold cooperatively a national comprehensive sports game for persons with disabilities, since the return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland. The Games is of great significance for developing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) into an international first-grade area and for promoting the integration and development among GBA.
The relevant parties are required to stick to the principle of “being green, eager to share, open and honest” for holding “simple, colorful and safe” games. Under the guidance of China Disabled Persons’ Federation and General Administration of Sports of China, concerted efforts should be made to ensure the venue preparation, the games organization, the pre-drill and testing, the supporting services and the like, to facilitate the organization of the Games under the negotiation with GBA.
From July 01 to July 08, track cycling event of the Games is scheduled to occur at Guangdong Longgang International Cycling Field, while road cycling event is scheduled to take place around Longkou Reservoir. Then, approximately 270 athletes all over the nation would take part in the two sports events.
Guangdong Longgang International Cycling Field is the first specialized field of the nation which is established specially for cycling sports in accordance with the relevant standards of Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The field is advanced enough for holding an international-class cycling game, while it is also ideal for athletic drill and amateur engagement in cycling sports. Nearby, wrapped around Longkou Reservoir is a 7.6-kilometer-long road, available for road cycling sport. Henceforth, Guangdong Longgang International Cycling Field, together with Longkou Reservoir, is the first internationally-standardized site in Asia suitable for having simultaneously track cycling and road cycling sports.
